Past Life Regression

Past life regression

The idea of reincarnation has been around for thousands of years. Some scholars believe that references were made to it in the Old Testament of the bible, but that in 325AD, the Roman Emperor Constantine the Great, had all references to it removed, and the New Testament contains no such endorsements. Reincarnation is also a major belief of other ancient religions. Many Hindus, Jains and Buddhists have strong beliefs in reincarnation, and some Ancient Greeks and Egyptians also believed in similar concepts. The kabala, a tradition with its origins in Judaism, contains many references to reincarnation.

Throughout the years many psychologists, psychotherapists, psychiatrists, and hypnotherapists have further acknowledged the benefits of exploring reincarnation and memories of past lives – known as past life regression or PLR. The famous Sigmund Freud discovered the link between past life trauma and present symptoms, calling it psychic determinism. He believed that our past experiences determined our present-day behaviour, so understanding past events could assist us to restore choice and bring about healing.

More recently, American psychiatrist and hypnotherapist Dr Brain Weiss has written several books about past life regression. He gives detailed accounts about some of his patients and how he has managed to help them with their current issues through PLR.

During a PLR, it is necessary to be placed in a deep state of hypnosis – this is required for you to be able to access past life memories contained in your subconscious mind. Once you are in a deep state of hypnosis, you will be guided through one of your previous lives, visiting significant events that may be impacting on your present life. Once you have gained access to all the information needed, you will be brought back to full consciousness and awareness in this life. Throughout the PLR, you are always fully in control and aware – you are totally safe and constantly being guided and supported at all times. The process can last approximately up to 3 – 4 hours, in which time you will be sat comfortably in a reclining chair.

PLR can help with a multitude of issues such as phobias like fear of dying, or claustrophobia. It can help you highlight and change any current unwanted behavioural patterns, as well as helping you to understand any illnesses you have. However, many people are just curious and just want to know what it is like or who they once were. Whatever your reasons, it is an extremely fascinating experience and well worth trying for yourself.
