Sound Therapy

sound healing

Sound healing has been used for centuries in various cultures around the world. Sound healing is based on the idea that vibrations from sound can have both physical and emotional effects on the body.

Sound healing works by creating a vibration that impacts the cells, tissues and organs throughout the body. Depending on the frequency of the sound, these vibrations can have a positive effect on the body’s cells. Sound healing uses pitches, tones and vibrations to promote healing and relaxation in the body.

Sound healing can be an effective way to re-programme your vibrations to a more optimal state.

The Gong

The history of the gong is much disputed, some believe the gong to have originated in China during the 5th century, others are of the opinion that it originated around the 6th century in a country somewhere between Tibet and Burma. Another theory is that the gong dates back a lot further in history to around 200BC.

The gong we use is a 32” Chau Gong therefore it’s frequencies are lower than a smaller one but higher than a larger gong. It is said that the average range for a gong of this type is between 65hz – 85hz but how humans actually hear the sound, depends upon how it is played.

During a gong bath you may feel relief from stress and anxiety and/or release emotional blockages. It can also improve your mood, focus and mental clarity, as it induces profound physical relaxation and restoration. The drone like tones from a gong can help to lower your brainwave activity to the alpha or theta state, where healing and rejuvenation take place, at a mental level.

Tuning forks

Tuning forks were invented in 1711 by a musician called John Shore for the purpose of tuning instruments. They have been used in various capacities since then. The medical profession still uses them today. Forks with different frequencies are used by medical professionals for diagnostic purposes. In addition to their use in medical diagnostics, and by musicians for tuning instruments, tuning forks are known for their healing properties worldwide.

When we are unbalanced or unwell, we can experience negative thoughts. Having these negative thoughts and feelings can affect our Chakras. When one of these Chakras is out of balance, an illness can result or worsen. Using tuning forks in times of illness can help correct the Chakra imbalances and improve overall health.

Of course, we can never state that gongs, tuning forks or any other form of sound healing instruments is ever a substitute for professional medical advice or treatment, but we can claim that to receive a sound healing session can be beneficial on many levels
